Latest News - Shin Tae Yong, the figure behind the mental change of the Indonesian National National Team


Informe – Did you know that the figure behind the success of the Indonesian National Team when it managed to rank Runner-up in the 2021 AFF Suxuki Cup. He is Shin Tae-yong, a former soccer player in the South Korean national team who later became a coach and led his country to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Shin Tae-Yong officially replaced the previous coach, Simon McMenemy who was fired by PSSI due to poor results in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Shin Tae-yong was inaugurated as the coach of the Indonesian national team on Saturday, December 29, 2019 at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor. Shin, made his debut at Seongnam FC in 1992 to 2004. He performed brilliantly at Seongnam FC with 76 goals in 296 matches.

As a player who occupies the position of midfielder, Shin Tae-yong has played up to 401 times, collecting 99 goals and recording 68 assists. His career as a professional soccer player ended in 2005 when he strengthened the Australian club, Queensland Roar and ended his career as a player there. At the national team level, he has played 14 times and collected 3 goals.

While defending his country, several times Shin Tae-yong has played against the Indonesian national team, the team he is currently coaching. For example, in the 1996 Asian Cup, he once played against Indonesia, which was strengthened by a star player at the time, Widodo Cahyono Putro.

In the final which will be held with two legs, Indonesia will meet Thailand, which in the other semifinal match failed Vietnam's dream where in the end Thailand won over Indonesia with an aggregate of 6-2.
